Anthem was released on Washington's Birthday , 2019. From its trailers and early gameplay reveals, it had the potential to be amazing. It seemed to be a mixture of Halo and Titanfall, and honestly, who doesn’t want that? It sounded amazing. The graphics are beautiful, the mechanics were reported to be sound and fluid, and therefore the trailers promised an immersive campaign mixed with loot and glory.
…And that’s where the apparent upsides ended. Sure, the graphics were great, and therefore the mechanics were somewhat decent, but the sport at its core was horrendously flawed. The looting mechanics forced a near-endless grind to urge ok items and weaponry to try to to decently, the story (especially the ending) was shallow and half-baked with missions that were extensively repetitive, and therefore the loading screens often took an ungodly five minutes to end (like the infamous Sonic ‘06)…but the worst has got to be this.
Several players complained that the sport would often crash thanks to multiple bugs that were often so severe that they pack up the console itself. In rare instances, players were reporting the sport would ‘brick’ their consoles, rendering them unusable.
Can you believe players paid $80 at launch for a game like this? No wonder its value has decreased so drastically. in just a year since launch, its price has lowered to only $15. only for reference, it took Destiny 2, an identical game, three years to urge right down to an identical overall price.
That's it bruh?
< Game mechanics, graphics, and flying are definitely high up where this game does things right. Where it falls short is the pacing of the plot, and repetitive missions. Where it gets exceedingly pain staking is loading screens, free-play and mission members constantly dragging you ahead and kicking you into another load screen, loot drops are bland, gear so far is pretty plain, cosmetics are bare minimum (ex: only 2 armor cosmetics at launch not including the preorder version), and grinding for materials to craft or coins to use on items makes you want to have an aneurysm. Content is minimal so far, only 3 strongholds after you complete the main missions. (1 of which is what everyone farms due to it being the fastest one you can do.) I really love BioWare games, and parts of this just feels like what Andromeda should have been. It is nowhere near what E3 presented and hyped (Surprise- lol). It's just...mediocre. I hope they can improve upon this with later patches. But so far this feels uncomfortably money grubbing and hollow. (I blame EA for tainting it with their grubby publisher gold hungry fingers.)
Note: I don't want to make this sound like I hate the game. I really do enjoy playing it, but I am disappointed with how much they presented this game to be a certain way, offering certain content or options and in the end they missed the mark on many of these promises. They are failing at the one thing that makes a looter shooter fun, which is a rewarding loot system. It is my hope the patches improve the game and make necessary changes to make this game more fulfilling and fun. >
